Between BJP and Dalits, why khichdi is the lowest common denominator

Surely, the top leadership of India’s political parties may not even have heard of any Dalit dishes and their variants across regions, let alone have them.

Me, in my mind: "I wonder what they can be. I'll check out some recipes later."

Rakti, a delicacy, is made of coagulated blood and, if available, onions. Wajadi is made from cleaned animal intestines, and salt and chilli powder.

Me, in my mind: "Never mind."

On a serious note, why does the author expect other people to know what these dishes are about, when the author herself says the dishes are made with ingredients that are cheap, somewhere implying that these dishes are not what the inventors themselves would eat if they could afford other ingredients.
