Since you had the money, I went with a 5820k. This will definitely last you quite a while and you'll definitely be able to overclock it. The 980 will do exactly as you requested, play AAA titles in 1440p @ 60fps. That monitor is also quite the gorgeous one, and it's shall definitely provide you with the experience your looking for. Im not entirely familiar with fan controllers, I usually just have them powered and controlled by the motherboard through the UEFI BIOS, however, this one kept popping up often, and it's received many good reviews from many places, so I popped it in there.
