GitHub to replace "master" with alternative term to avoid slavery references | ZDNet

I don't think it's a 5 second job (I know my earlier comments said so but I've had time to think) but I do think it's an easy job and doesn't all have to happen at the same time. My current company is doing docs first because that's the fastest. Then internal development because we're all smart and can handle it. Then product changes rolling out over time, most of which are UI and can be deployed in a matter of minutes. It's easy, and it's weird how people don't want to slightly inconvenience themselves to make others feel better. I'm not black so I don't understand how it feels either, but if a black person tells me the terminology makes them uncomfortable then it's irresponsibly of me to think otherwise because there's no way in hell I know better.
