The grifting..

Why do all these people think they need a million ultrasounds??? If you are assessed as high risk your doctor will order them. Otherwise it’s just excessive. The reality is that even if something was wrong, there likely wouldn’t be much that could be done to fix it. I understand having anxiety but you’re just feeding the monster by doing this, same as people who get fetal dopplers and overuse them and then make themselves even more anxious by doing so.

I had a low-risk pregnancy and had a quick scan at 9 weeks to confirm pregnancy in the doctor’s office. Then I did a NIPT at 10 weeks and the doctor did a quick scan then too (to confirm that the pregnancy was still viable before processing the sample). I had a dating scan at 12 weeks and then nothing until my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. In the last few weeks I had one final informal scan in the doctor’s office to confirm she was head down. That’s it!
