To add on to this point, Yale’s endowment is 43 billion. Harvard’s is 53 billion. University of Texas is 42 billion.

So yes, Howard’s endowment is large relative to other HBCUs but minuscule compared to others. Also, that 700 million endowment is not like money that can be entirely used at once or within a short time frame. So these issues aren’t entirely solvable with the endowment. Additionally, Howard doesn’t have the same level of resources that some other (read: PWI) schools have to manage the fund. Yale’s endowment fund management is literally taught in business schools because it’s so well managed. Howard is nowhere near that level.

All that said, u/miraclemcclain is spot on with everything they’ve said. My criticisms of Howard’s leadership are the same and it’s been a long time of the same problems.
