Hiking/backpacking recommendations?

I own 2 a6000s, the 16-55 is a good all rounder for your needs BUT it's not pocketable, so you will have to be ok with it hanging off you neck or a backpack / belt mount as you hike.

I bought the 18-105 F4 lens for my "every day use lens" and it's been good for me, but it's even bigger and heavier :) I would not really like to hike with it. Also these bodies aren't weather sealed so dust gets on the sensor all the time in the outdoors. (it's easy to puff off, just saying it's another thing to manage)

Also you WILL NEED extra batteries to get through a full day of taking photos, and a USB power brick to recharge....

by all accounts your phone's camera is remarkably good already.

I use "power saving mode" on my Samsung Phone - the "simple home screen" one that gives about 5 days of light use. Camera is still on the menus so it's great :)

I don't want to "talk you out of" a interchangeable lens camera upgrade , lol. But in your use case I'm not sure how much you GET from this vs the aggro it will add to your hikes

I've been on trips with a Panasonic Lumix LX5 camera and got great photos of places my companions DIDN'T get a photo of because their Canon D5 setup was too heavy and / or too expensive to take with us on an event / excursion.....
