Complete newbie looking to document time abroad.

At the moment I'm not necessarily looking to purchase any new equipment.

Whoops, my mistake. I'm so used to seeing people asking for camera suggestions.

I’m more looking for techniques on how to ‘find’ something to photograph as such. I’ve not actually tried as the inspiration hasn’t been there.

Might be worth studying topics like composition, lighting, etc. then go out into the world and look for examples of those principles in effect.
