New to this..

Hi, I've had Crohns since I was 9(I am 16 now) and it's been a rough but things are getting really better! In 4th grade I used to always complain about my stomach and used to go home alot, that's when my cousin who was a teacher's assistant told my mom that something was wrong and I need to go to the doctor. Well my mom brought me to one who we didn't get anywhere with. So, she took me to a new pediatrician who referred us to a GI doctor in a more... upscale hospital. Then incomes a year of constant med changes and blood work with me throwing up every single thing I eat, while having pain about every 10 mins, and losing about 40lb. That's when the doctor said that I was getting too sick a hospitalized me, where they found I was starving and my body was basically taking my fat to get nutrients (kinda lucky I was overweight at 160lb at 9). So during the hospital stay they took ALOT of test and finally found out it was Crohns. YAYYYY finally a diagnosis so we can treat it properly! Well it wasn't that easy. Through the period of 2009 to 2012, I was on countless medicines. Imurane, Humira, Remicade, Methotrexate, Cymzya(this one is still in trials), you name it, I most likely tried it. The only thing that even slightly helped me was high doses prednisone, but even that didn't help me. I've had absesses (not sure how you spell that), PICC lines, Feeding tubes, etc etc. I've been to the hospital at least 50 times. By 2012 I was 80 lbs with a feeding tube because that was the only way to give me nutrients. I thought I may have died soon if I didn't get any better . But, in the summer of 2012 I went to a new hospital with a new team of doctors (don't get me wrong, my old doctor was amazing and without him I most likely would be dead) instead of just one. At this hospital, they gave me a blood transfusion, I had to swallow a pill camera (which I had to before), and after a few months, they finally found a treatment that would help me! As of now, I'm taking a mixture of Methotrexate every week, and Remicade every month at the almost the highest dose they can give me. Right now, I'm a 160lb 16 year old that is finally growing right now that I'm is off the steroids. Only two years ago I thought I might die because of this disease, but my family and I kept fighting, never giving up, and finally found a treatment. I'm glad I kept fighting and I will keep fighting. If you ever feel that it's going nowhere and they will never find anything for you. All I gotta say for you is, keep fighting, don't stop fighting even if you are so sick you can't even get out of bed in the morning. It will get better.

Hope the best for you OP.
