How are you using Action Sets?

For Retroarch Im using 4 different action sets to try and emulate the different controllers for each console more closely.

  • First Action Set is a normal Xbox 360 controller configuration for the Playstation and N64 core (it also works with the rumble feature now that they added it)

  • Second Action Set, I have the left Pad as a Dpad and the Right Pad as XYBA buttons for all oldschool consoles like NES, SNES, MAME arcade, Genesis (it feels really nice after I got used to it and I already beat some tough games like Contra and Battletoads on NES using it, so I think its totally viable for these kinds of games)

  • Third action set has a mouse on the gyro and the left and right triggers as A and B button for touch based games on Nintendo DS and Lightgun arcade games on the Mame core like Time Crisis, Virtua Cop, Lethal Enforcers, Jurassic Park, Rail Chase (this is so fun you just have to enable the mouse cursor in Mame core options and it works perfectly!)

  • The last action set (I just added it yesterday) has the gyro as joystick move with haptic feedback on the gyro and left and right triggers again as A and B button for arcade racing games like Outrun, Virtua Racing, Hang On, Stunt Racer, A.B. Cop Air Bike. (Those games often used racing wheels or even tiltable chairs as controllers in the Arcades and the gyro joystick feels awesome for those games on default settings)

Im using some nice analog retro shaders that make the games look like they are played on an old CRT TV and this is really the ultimate retro experience I just love it so much :D

I hope somebody else will try similar configurations for Retroarch, I just think Action Sets are absolutely perfect especially for a multi console emulator like that!
