Ideas for a "Skewed Ability Score" Game

These are all thoughtful comments and I appreciate the community involvement!

I see where the players might get a little worried if they all have super low CON; or, if they all have to dump into CON to survive. I think a blanket +1 or +2 CON MOD isn't a bad idea to boost survive-ability. I don't think I would want this for DEX though, because then everyone is better than average at all of the skills related to DEX (which is a butt-ton for some reason. #STRdiscrimination).

Would a house rule allowing AC to be calculated based on STR or DEX break the game? Everyone would still go for DEX because of all the skills, but maybe I could rule that STR could be used for skills like Stealth and Acrobatics to balance it a bit! The mental stats seem balanced enough to me that none really jump out as an obvious choice.

Ideally, the players will each take an ability that they want to emulate/be responsible for in the group dynamic. Then they would choose another ability and be the party's "backup." For example: the Sorcerer is the party's face and does most of the talking (with his +5 CHA MOD), but the rogue has a slightly lower (but still +3ish CHA MOD) to back him up or fill in if the sorcerer is indisposed. But both of them are useless at Perception and Insight, so they need their Cleric buddy to help them there.

I wanna build a party that is each exceptional at their one thing, ok at another thing (as a backup), and no good at pretty much everything else to encourage everyone to allow others to shine.
