In-depth review of the CoolerMaster MM720: A step up from the first batches of MM710/711?

My Experience with the Glorious Model O Wireless (MOW)

For the past week, I’ve been using the MOW daily and have been testing daily how build quality is holding up and how the buttons are holding up (wobble/pre/post etc…). I really enjoy using the MOW, albeit there were some caveats along the way which I’ll get into below. But for the most part, it seems to be a big step up build quality wise when compared to previous Glorious mice. Nice to see, however I have seen people having issues with the build quality on their MOW, such as awful pre/post travel with their side buttons. I hope this and any other issues can be fixed in newer batches, I think Glorious have been trying to focus on build quality and they’ve definitely made improvements, however there’s still things to be looked at.

For my personal experience, as mentioned, I’ve had some caveats. Were they deal breakers for me? No, but worth mentioning. I have had a lot of fun using the MOW and I’ve felt confident in my aim, I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve been using small mice recently, but I’ve not had much issue adapting back to a bigger mouse.

This mouse was sent out by Glorious for me to review, however all my thoughts are my own and, this does not affect my review in any way.

Technical Details

The sensor being used in the MOW is Glorious’ own proprietary sensor, with the name BAMF. It’s meant to be similar to the PixArt 3370 sensor, however I’m not 100% sure. I have had no issues with this sensor, no noticeable input lag, tracking felt accurate to my hand movement, no spinouts on any of my pads. However, I’ve seen that it can spin out on the Ice pad, possibly the MP510 and I assume the Raiden. I would like to note that I can’t really tell any difference between mouse latency between this and a wired mouse.

The MOW uses a 2.4Ghz connection via the USB Dongle provided, I haven’t experienced any interference issues with this method however I do not have any other wireless mice at the moment. By default, the sensor comes with 1000Hz applied, as this is a wireless mouse the 1000Hz will consume more power when compared to 500Hz, so if you want better battery performance, I’d recommend lowering it.

Packaging

The MOW comes in a very similar box to the standard Model O, however instead of having a visible cable, the first thing you’re greeted with is the mouse alone. The only accessories you get are the USB C cable, the dongle, the manual, a quick start guide and a sticker. No replacement feet, I was a bit disappointed by this, a lot of companies now are including replacement feet in the box nowadays. I think Glorious should do the same, I understand them not including grips but replacement feet should be a standard. Asides from that, I’d say the unboxing experience was quite pleasant and really got me excited to use the mouse.

Feet & Glide

The MOW uses 4 G-Skates, I’m sure we’ve all heard of these by now, but they’re 100% pure PTFE. They’re pretty solid, not as fast as tiger arc 1s/Corepads but they’re smooth on pads I’ve tried, such as MPC450/AC+ ROB/GP4. They were a little scratchy on my Skypad. They feel fairly consistent on both X and Y axis, didn’t really have any problem with them. Unfortunately, I had to take apart the mouse after I did all my testing due to a reason I’ll get to below, so now I’m using 2 tiger arc 1s as bottom feet and 2 G Skates as top feet, if I had replacement feet in the box this wouldn’t have been an issue.

Buttons & Build quality

M1/M2 are fairly solid. They use Omron 20ms and are tensioned pretty well, on my copy the clicks are tactile and crisp. They have some slight comfort grooves in them which I like They have very minimal pre-travel whilst having a more noticeable post travel, nothing of concern though and I actually quite like how they feel. In terms of play, on my copy and many others, there’s effectively none. Really good job here Glorious. I do think it’s worth mentioning, if I click on the very top right of M2 it makes a ‘hollow/creak’ noise, I do not click there during normal use but it’s a shame the click is not consistent on the whole of the mouse button. Also, it seems with the MOW, you can not do anywhere near as much double clicking when compared to the wired version, even on the 2ms debounce option it’s hard to get a high CPS. So, if you’re into Minecraft or like getting high CPS, I’d recommend waiting until Glorious releases firmware, as that’ll revert it back to the Model O double click settings.

Side buttons on the MOW use Huano Green dots, they’re alright. They do have some crisp to them, not as much as something like the UL2 or XM1 side buttons. In terms of placement, I would’ve liked them to be placed a little bit less forward, however they’re completely usable and this is just me nit picking. They have minimal pre-travel but a bit more post travel than I’d like. In terms of wobble, I can’t notice any during gaming or when clicking the side buttons. The coating used on them is glossy, which is different to the main body coating, personally I don’t mind this as it creates a little more grip on them for me. I would have liked them to be a little bigger but it’s not a really an issue for me personally, just nit picking again.

Scroll wheel is where I have had an issue, it ended up squeaking at me when scrolling downwards, fortunately this was an easy fix and only requires lube/oil, but it’s a shame it has happened in the first place. Also, I worry that the average user will not know how to fix it, so I think Glorious should stop it from happening altogether. Asides from that, the scroll wheel feels smooth and the steps are subtle but in a good way, the Hati S is the most similar out of my mice in this regard. The scroll wheel also uses a Huano Green switch, which I think is different to the standard Model O. I found clicking it to feel a bit muted when compared to the XM1/UL2, however it’s fairly light to click which I like, though not as light as XM1 RGB. When it comes to texture, it’s rubber with large indents in, surprisingly, I actually quite like the feel. It does pick up oils quite easily though, fortunately I don’t mind too much as it’s just the scroll wheel. In terms of wobble and play, it’s very minimal and feels quite sturdy.

DPI button is placed in-between M1/M2, does its job and I have never accidentally clicked it.

On my MOW, the build quality feels sturdy and strong all around, great to see in a honeycomb mouse. No flex/creaking or rattles anywhere, it’s no secret Glorious has build quality issues, but I think they’re really stepping up their game here. They have really pulled it out the bag here, the mouse feels very sturdy during use. The issues I’ve had, such as scroll wheel squeak, was a shame but fortunately It’s an easy fix.

Battery Life

I will say, I set my MOW to 500Hz polling rate with RGB Brightness set to 55%. I can only prove a rough estimate on how long the battery will last, I used it for around 6 hours a day (not including time where it’s on not being used), I didn’t need to charge it until somewhere around 30-35 hours use. So, battery life was plenty good enough for me but from what I’ve seen, doesn’t compare to GPW or Aerox 3 wireless. I’d recommend taking a look at other reviews to see how long the battery lasted on their MOW as this will provide you with a more certain answer.

Cable

The cable included with this mouse is actually really good, it’s light and flexible, you can also use it whilst using the mouse. The cable plugs into the MOW in 1 way, as it’s USB C with prongs to securely sit in the mouse during use. You can make sure you put it in the right way by making sure the little hexagon is on top and visible. No need for a paracord here, as you won’t be using the cable much, but even if you were, I do not think one would be needed. Another really good stock cable. Good job Glorious.
