LDR Boyfriend (29M) won't speak my love language, says he "can't keep going this way" and asked for "space. a lot of space". I'm (26F) terrified. We want to stay together, but we're nearing breakup, I think. Feeling clueless/hopeless. PLEASE HELP!

Honestly? I think you’re being a little toxic for him. The key to love languages is to not only learn what works for you but to recognize it in your partner too and to appreciate his gestures of love (as opposed to beating him over the head with it and getting upset that he isn’t conforming! Which is what you’re doing)

He drives/flies over to visit you, spending time/money/energy, wanting to be with you. “BUT WHERES MY CARD?!”

he visits again and takes you to any restaurant you want his treat “BUT WHERES MY CARD?!”

He makes the effort of finding you a card that he thinks you’ll like with the cat “THIS CARD ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH!”

You called him to complain about a gift he gave you! (Yikes) because your mom didn’t like the gift (double yikes)

I mean I get it, my love languages is gifts. My fiancé’s is acts of service. So I have to stop and think ok getting my oil changed and tires rotated is his way of saying he loves me, not buying me flowers.

Idk, honestly I think your relationship might just not be meant to be. Especially if he wants to move to CA and figure things out. Like this just might not be the time for him to be in a relationship. Maybe he needs to start fresh.
