Lesson 8-24

Aurelia originally thinks against going into the maze, though, the 'special prize' catches her attention. She leans more heavier toward going in and eventually thinks 'What's the worst that could happen?' Armed with two daggers, she prepares herself for whatever the maze may hold.

The door to the maze slamming behind her causes a slight startle, though she regains composure as if someone is watching. She walks carefully through the maze, trying to be as passive as possible.

The first thing she encounters is a trap in which she triggered a trip wire. A log comes flying down at her from the ceiling, though she doesn't realize until it's almost upon her. She ducks, watching above her as the large log flies back and forth, losing speed every time. She lets out a breath, glad she didn't fail that early.

The next room she walked into, a loud and righteous voice booms throughout.

"Welcome to my lair. In order to reach the exit, you must prove your wisdom to me." Figuring that it'd be a riddle, she relaxes in place. She waits for the disembodied voice to tell her the riddle.

"Very well. I assume you're ready." On the wall in front of Aurelia, a chart of numbers appears, reading the following:

1

1 1

2 1

1 2 1 1

1 1 1 2 2 1

? ? ? ? ? ?

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

"What are the last two combinations, woman?"

Ohhh boy, number riddles. She studies the numbers carefully, confused initially. After much, much thought, she realizes that the number previous is describing the next number!

"Alright, m-mister! The n-next two combinations a-are 3 1 2 2 1 1, and 1 3 1 1 2 2 2 1!"

"Very well done. Congratulations, young one." The closed door in front of Aurelia opens, granting her access to the next room!

Again, the same loud and righteous voice boomed throughout the room... 'Another riddle!?'

"Welcome to my lai-- Wait a minute, I've already asked you this riddle!" After a moment of thought from the disembodied voice, it clears its voice and begins the next riddle.

"Ahem... Now, then, young one... Here is your next task! This riddle! What is greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it, the rich don't need it, and if you eat it, you will die?"

A large grin appears on Aurelia's face. 'This one's a classic.'

"Nothing," She says, the grin still apparent.

"What!? How in the world... Alright, you may pass..."

Obviously put down by the quick answer, the door opens again and Aurelia finds herself at the end of the maze! She finds herself particularly lucky for having not needed to fight any monsters. She sheathes her dagger and dusts herself off in jest, stretching her arms above her head with pride.
