I've been playing for around 2.5 years very seriously, but before that very casually for another 3 years. The last 7 months I've been doing every two weeks for lessons with a professional banjoist who I really admire as an artist. That's a bit much at times, but I'm really trying to advance my playing.

Sometimes it feels like it's too much to digest in such a short span, sometimes not. For anyone interested in lessons I'd recommend at least once a month, and probably more early on. Although I think anyone would benefit from having someone to check in with a handful of times a year. At a minimum to gauge progress and figure out where you can improve things etc.
