Life Pro Tip: Cats often sleep in the wheel wells of cars during the Winter months to keep warm and can be severely injured if you don't check for them.

my ex and i rented a room from an older couple in an area that gets a lot of strays. they had one in particular that always hung around the property and they would put out food for her. eventually we started seeing kittens running around and we started calling her mommy cat. there were three little kittens: a black one, a black and white one, and a tiny orange one, and they were precious. the kittens liked to sleep in the front of our car wrapped up around the engine to keep warm. once we saw them all jump out one day we started checking for them before starting the car whenever we needed to go somewhere.

well the older couple we rented from also parked their pickup truck outside. we told them to check for kittens before starting the car, but i guess the husband forgot because one day we came home to the news that his truck was in the shop because he had started it while two of the kittens were in there and it had killed them. :( we were so upset because we had TOLD them but he claimed he never heard us say it. at least one of them survived but to this day i have gotten in the habit of always thumping the hood of my car before i start it when i park outside, just in case.
