Why are people unhappy with Austin?

can get delicious and authentic Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cajun, Italian

Yes they exist, but ime the food ends up being fine/"solid" or worse dumbed down/fusion inspired concepts, rarely outstanding enough to where I'm willing to regularly come back while also charging higher price points because of two reasons: higher col here and the lack of other options/competition

I'm talking about places like Red Ash, Saigon Le Vendeur/Pho Please (tbh just about any Vietnamese place here), Nasha, Lin, Wu Chow, or 1618 for example, like I wouldn't say any has high quality food however they're approaching higher end $20+ a person prices to where the quality/price ratio isn't enough to have me coming back as a regular
