Lithium or Lead Acid

ABYC certified Marine electronics tech here. The only lithiums that we safely trust in our industry are in this order:

1) lithionics - friggin amazing best lithium on the market hands down

2) relion lithium - pretty good but not quite built as well internally as lithionincs

3) battle born - bout the same as relion but we dont use them very often because they demand to be a wholesaler you have to sell a stupid amount of batteries per month.

What others said about price is true. Lithionics runs in the tune of $4k for a 400ah battery. But its so worth it in the long run if you can afford it.

As far as lead acid, make sure its being charged correctly and consider firefly agms they are the best lead acids out there. Correctly treated and charged lead acid can last a seriously long time.

A note on cold temps: what the other commenters said is true cold can really be a pain with any batteries. An easy way to mitigate this is to relocate the batteries to a nice internal compartment. Keep em out of the extremes.
