looking for feedback on my common apps adulthood essay

The change from childhood to adulthood runs parallel to the change from dependence to independence; they are one and the same. Children are, by definition, dependent on their guardians. A child begins upon the path to adulthood when they begin acting free of constant supervision. They come to their own conclusions, make their own choices, and go through their own processes, and in doing so can learn through their own failures and successes. Somewhere along the path the child will find that they are no longer a child. They hold the ability to create their own lives. In their independence they have developed into an adult- they have become their own person. Receiving a car is receiving independence itself. To get your own car is to have what was once a tight, or even cramped, horizon expanded to however far you are willing to drive. No longer confined to the safe and limiting space provided by your guardians, you may now run wild as you see fit. The newfound ability to drive is likely the most liberating moment thus far in your life. You now have options and choices that were previously not available. Opportunities such as a job, or a club, or community service become more viable. You now have greater power and say as to what you do with your day. Following the old cliché, you also gain many new responsibilities with your newfound power. Although you can now drive, many peers your age or younger may not be able to yet. In the same way that you were driven around when you couldn’t drive, you will now have to drive those who can’t drive themselves. When you are driving others around, they are putting their lives in your hands. As such, driving safely is beyond questioning. You are driving several thousand pounds of metal and must do so in a safe manner and in the right state of mind. You are driving safely for yourself, your passengers, and other drivers on the road. While safety should be a large concern while driving, it is reasonable to enjoy your time on the ride. You just got a car; You have freedom on wheels. You operate on you own schedule, develop independently of guidance, and gain opportunities to your disposal. Let the windows down. You are now in the driver’s seat.

I'm afraid my angle is bad. My diction and structure and whatnot is alright, but the content itself I'm afraid is no good.
