There was a black woman who is a teacher who made a tik tok video ranting about this. I just tried to find it to link it here and I can’t even find it, I don’t remember if I saw it on someone’s YouTube community page or on twitter.

She said she would tell the whole classroom “turn to page x and answer all the questions on that page” and the boys would immediately start finding ways to avoid having to participate. They would be like “I don’t have my book” and so she would give them a book to borrow. Then they would say “You didn’t teach us this” and she would remind them she did. They would say “but this is a lot of questions” and she would say there’s plenty of time, just answer as much as you can. They would say “but why do we have to do this again if we already went over it”, like they would just go on and on until there was no more time left and that’s how they avoid having to do any work.
