Why does everyone here mention sex and getting laid? Is that seriously the only thing you can think of if a woman says that? That a man should leave if he hears that only?

For me when I see a male friend as a brother, then I feel safe enough to actually rely on him and I will always be there for him to rely on in times of need. That I dont have to worry about my looks or person when Im with him, and we're often having a fun time. Sure I dont feel any sexual or romantic attraction, but I still like being with said person. Just as much I like being with my female friend that is like a sister to me.

If you seriously only befriend someone just in case youll get sex, then I worry for you and your "friend". Not wanting to be friends with someone just because they didnt want to sleep with you after maybe even years of platonic friendship, is a really shitty dickhead move.
