I work in a big office, and my cubicle as in the front row so I see everyone walk by all day. I first noticed one particular woman early last year - she had beautiful brown eyes, long straight hair and was usually sporting a scowl that I'm all too familiar with, the "working here is so monotonous, I wish I was anywhere else" look.

We were introduced by a co-worker and she's a really nice person, but I never found the courage to talk to her after that. Whenever she would walk by I'd avoid her gaze; I've never really been nervous about talking to women but I was reluctant to initiate anything with someone I barely know. Eventually though I started stealing glances, hoping she wouldn't notice. She did. She saw me and smiled back a few times, in silence. Those were always the highlights of my day, I have a pretty boring job.

A few weeks ago I was moved to a different floor of the office. I haven't seen her since.
