Moving to Greenville from Prague

Prague is great. Greenville is nothing like Prague. Everything will be 2-3x as expensive. You basically must have a car. Its beyond warm, it will be 35C a decent part of the year, and humid. There are lots of foreign companies in Greenville, Michelin, BMW etc. They don't care about European natives as all the regular workers support domestic activities, and all the executives they just import from the EU. Greenville is one of the more progressive cities in South Carolina but the culture shock will still be there. Racism, sexism, nationalism and all other manner of ism's are alive and well in South Carolina. You will be bombarded by evangelical religion. Strangers will ask you where you are going to church and expect an answer. Greenville has lots of industry and is doing a good bit of hiring. We have a great selection of restaurants and local breweries. I think you might even find Pilsner Uruquell on tap. Shops and business have much more convenient hours than Prague. Everything is less than 100 years old. Whats the average age of a building in Prague 1 like 600 years or something? People wear pajamas and flip flops out of the house. Charleston is difficult to get ahead unless you have been in Charleston for at least 3 generations of family. In Charleston all of the best business and jobs go to natives, as a rule. Culturally Greenville is part of greater appalachia and charleston is deep south, this makes a big difference. This doesn't mean people can't be successful in Charleston but there is a glass ceiling. Columbia I would skip altogether. In Greenville expect to pay a minimum of 750USD monthly for decent rental housing. Many rentals require various documentation that may be difficult to acquire like a FICO score etc. Apartments and houses are not rented "warm" and you typically pay for all utilities in addition to monthly rent. Summer electric typically runs over $150 a month if you are running AC. I have worked in the EU previously, when and if you move to Greenville and you want help I can help you reformat your CV to a USA style and try to refer you to some jobs. Hows your spoken english, and do you either of you have specialized skills?
