Reddit, do you regret selling something just because you needed the money for it? What did you sell?

Bit of a different take where I lost everything but gained so much more.

I left a sales job that had been destroying me both physically and mentally after 2 and a half years. I was overweight, alcoholic, pack a day, and miserable. I had been doing film work for about 4 years at that point and decided to go for broke. Literally. I saved up a bunch, and started working part time at a local media organization. In total, I made about $650 a month from there and odd jobs. Over the course of 8 months, I held on to the promise of the media company that I would be brought on full time. Well, it never happened. What did happen though is that I had to sell everything I had. My boxed nes action set, my boxed Atari 5600, endless boxed retro games, my guitar, my wii u, my 3ds, all my games for those, some key comic books of mine, and on and on. Pretty much left with my phone, my ps4, and my TV. Ps4 was next to go. However, in this time, I also lost 60 lbs, my smoking habit, my drinking habit, and my desire to kill myself.

After saying enough is enough, I applied to a job that I didn't get 8 months prior, but also started making plans to go to the big city and strike out there. My prospects were good after years of building up a portfolio, but I was also broke and broken after losing everything and having to start over yet again. Then it happened. I got an interview with the other company from 8 months ago. Then I got the job. So after losing everything, I finally got ahead of where I started. The gamble paid off.

Tl;dr On Tuesday, I start my dream job after 8 months of struggling and selling off bit by bit every single thing I had collected over the past 10 years. I can get it all back though, and I'm finally where I want to be. Worth it.
