Musk’s Twitter disbands its Trust and Safety advisory group

"non offending pedophiles" were openly defended by Twitter years ago

What's the problem with that? There's a difference between having a sexual interest in children (which is sick, yes, but not exactly something they chose) and actually touching (or fapping to) them.

Sure, keep your children away from them if you want. Sure, they should get some help if available. But I see no reason to hate on them for being pedophiles when they just get turned on by children and nothing else.

They are still normal people, not sexual predators, and should be treated as such where possible.

Besides morality, the other issue with stigmatizing pedophilia itself, rather than acting it out, is that people with pedophilia are less likely to reach out for help regarding it, even if they recognize it's an issue and want to do something about it. There has to be some minimal level of acceptance for people to feel secure enough to come out about their issues, which is necessary for improvement.

Of course, it is an issue if pedophilia is promoted or people are proud of being pedophiles. But I don't see the issue with promoting acceptance rather than pedophilia itself.
