My (Romanian) opinion on the turkish culture

I have a love and hate relationship with Turks.

As a German, having grown up with Turks (Germans of Turkish origin bla bla), some where the nicest and most hospitable people (especially compared to the sometimes rather cold and reserved Germans). Turkish mothers offering sweets when visiting friends at home, our neighbours bringing delicious food every now and then, etc.

But especially Turkish teenage boys can be the worst. Rude, loud, violent, bullying. If my experience with Turks had stopped after school, I would have resented them forever. Erdogan is the prime example of the kind of Turk I experienced back then.

Turks are overly proud people and don't like to have their sense of honor to be offended, which leads to conflict. (sorry for generalizing)

Now, studying at university with many Turks and having Turks married into our family, my view of Turkish Culture has shifted a bit to the positive again.

The situation in Turkey is worrying and I too hope for a better future in Turkey.
