My tips for defeating A-Wings

You've been blasted to downvote oblivion but I'm with you, buddy. I clean up with both. It's just a matter of changing the way you fly.

For A/X-Wing you fly slow, spam shield, and track individual targets until you pick them off. Don't worry about being in the fray, your shields will hold and you can scramble out for health if you take a hit.

For TIEs, you focus on speed. Only slow down to increase blaster strength when you have a direct line on someone. If they get away from you, do not give chase. They'll use the shield and you'll spend all day trying to catch them and you'll probably get tagged from behind anyway. It's not worth it. Instead let them go and target the very next one that crosses your path. Go for stragglers removed from the middle of the fray, go for targets that are smoking or targets that already have a pursuer. Go for targets with an already active shield - but don't lock on to them or that will give you away, just track and wait for the shield to drop then make your move. Also only try for the transports until after you've cleared the defending Rebels, not before. If you don't manage to get them, let the transport go. Just remember to keep that speed up for 90% of the time.

I average around 10 kills/10 AI, 1 death as the rebels. And a little less, probably 8 Kills/10 AI, 2 deaths as the empire. As long as the rest of my team aren't garbage and someone is halfway decent in Slave 1 (meaning doesn't spend the entire match trying to shoot down the Falcon) I'd say we stand a good chance of winning. I'd say my team wins probably around 40% as the empire, which strikes me as pretty balanced given that TIEs are very definitely less forgiving than A/X-wing to newcomers.
