I think we need to know What would future cities look like

Maybe we won't have cities? With automation, faster internet connections, online shopping, online learning, VR, and the recent surge in people working from home, I could see a future where cities become mostly obsolete.

Some functions in society would still need a central location, like hospitals, transportation hubs, tourist attractions and jobs that require people to show up in person, but I don't see these forming the foundation of something like New York City or London.

Most of them don't even have to be in a city. There's plenty of airports and large hospitals that are located in rural areas today, and a group of companies could easily buy up some land and build a small town/campus with apartments for their employees.
