Netherlands: International Students Are Three Times More Likely to Quit Studies Than Domestic Students

When I was still a student I found that education system quite confusing. Where you constantly had to sign up for everything, including classing, tests, second chances, information boards, and you had to check different systems to get the information you needed. You had to schedule everything yourself. And if you would go for a bachelor you would have to arrange internships. And you were just expected to figure it all out.

And some courses were quite intensive as they would literally ask for everything in the book during the tests. And if you hadnt read something, you simply wouldnt know the answer. With the added pressure that you would be send away if you didnt get enough points. It takes a very mature attitude and quite a bit of discipline to stay on top of it all.

And if you dont know the language, dont want to burden people with dumb questions, are under financial stress as you cant rely on your parents, or dont know things that are common knowledge to the locals, I can imagine that would add an extra barrier.
