New worrying behavior.

He needs time to adjust. When moving, it's very emotionally taxing for animals. You are expecting too much out of him too fast. He needs a few weeks to decompress before you start taking him out on adventures. He needs to understand this new place is now his home and get comfortable, feel safe there.

He is probably still carrying negative memories of the trip, combined with the strange new surroundings, and now you forcing him to hang out in another new place while you eat. He needs a break and a slow introduction to new life, especially since he has a traumatic trip. Animals don't adjust as quickly as people do.

After a few weeks, start on SHORT trips. Don't force him to stay in places where he doesn't feel safe. Don't do stops with him for a while. Then when you do start doing stops, do it for short periods of time and treat him while he's calm. Teach him it's ok to be in this new place.

Reading through most of your posts about him, it seems like you take your own self interest first without thinking about him. Whatever is most comfortable and best for you. Not saying you are putting him in harm's way, but you are not helping the situation by not thinking of him first.
