Is it normal for chiropractor to say that you shouldn't use insurance?

To answer your question-- She was trying to tell me that if she billed my insurance it would have somehow cost me $170? It just didn't make sense since she started the conversation stating my insurance informed her that I have only used 1/20 of my allowances that should have been flat out covered. I was too hot, exhausted, and hungry after being stuck there for 2 hours to even keep on arguing past the 15 minutes I was standing there as she kept changing up my "options" and pricing.

Also, I posted an update to this after calling my insurance and they said they're going to investigate the chiropractor now, that it shouldn't have gone down like that, and they should have just billed my insurance instead of arguing about it.

Thank you for replying and validating my feelings on it being suspicious, I'm kind of a pushover so I wasn't sure if I was in the wrong. The whole situation was weird from start to finish.
