I went there to learn and it was mostly an educational visit but what it boiled down to was me falling in love with the country
I’d say search up a hotel somewhere affordable and just take a look around. I found myself more than anything just interacting with the lovely people. I didn’t participate as much as I should’ve in the political scene(a regret I still hold to this day), but I still will never forget taking a walk every day trying to get a little farther than I had before in that beautiful place
And for anyone, in particular folks like me, who may be a bit scared of going to somewhere we may not be welcome I’ll say this; I spoke openly in English and never hid my accent, I did face some prejudice and even only once a threat of violence, but despite occasionally feeling uncomfortable I never once felt unsafe
