What specifically do you need? Because "taking a break" is basically breaking up. Do you need to travel by yourself? Talk with him about that. Do you want to go away to another city to go to school? Talk with him about that and how your relationship would work. Do you want your own bedroom so you have a little more personal space? Do you want to have more activities on your own? Talk with him about all of it. Whatever you do, don't ask to "take a break" from your relationship unless you want your relationship to be over. And unless you're okay with him sleeping with other women while you're "on a break." Cuz that's what a break is, and it isn't usually something that strengthens a relationship.
