[OC] Funturistic - Bridal Chorus Wedding march

This 'll be released on vevo monday but giving you guys here at r/vocaloid a premiere sneak peak. Big talk for somebody with a dozen subscribers.. haha.

I'll give ya bit of backstory on this project. In the car while I'm driving around for work, have a little mp3 player. Use this little program called mix2stix to randomly pick stuff so it'll fit on the 8gb. Also have like 10k classical midi files converted to mp3, peppered in there so I can check for things to maybe turn into future audio projects.

Well that wedding exit song comes on I go, hey maybe I can do something with this. How about adding that other wedding song, the here comes the bride first. Turns out that's from some opera. It's a little section later on in it.

Then time to work on the project. You should have seen these midi files they're a total jumble of a whole bunch of notes. Well, dealt with it and separated things. Wasn't easy. Plus a few parts the notes were bad. It's like oh, ok I gotta try and fix this. I'm not a musician though.. well pulled it off. Was bad some parts were offkey and you have other notes going on, it's like what are you gonna do with it. I don't know chords.

Anyways... got the mess separated. Those top notes, ran thru vocaloid. Those were 3 tracks, ouh, ohh and ahh. Then I'd fade to whichever would go more with the music melody. So it's not just one pass with it.

Then you have how it's rough exporting that from vocaloid, all sorts of what seems like mp3 garbelization artifact. The output was low and if you bring it up, makes it even worse. The ahh one was pretty bad. It's an odd type of noise, tried running it thru izotope rx denoise which can detect noise even when other things are going on. Usually you need bare hiss or something to denoise. Well that program can handle most things but with this stuff it couldn't. I have zynaptic unchirp which can actually fix mp3 compression artifacts. Tried running that and nope you can't have any treble sections or you get that noise. Tested out all possible combinations of settings with that and it winds up pretty much toning down treble frequencies. But at least you don't get those bad artifacts. Gives it a more buried sound but you still hear it.

Then to give reverb ran thru altiverb convolution reverb. If you haven't heard of that they go into real world locations and get the signature of reverb and when run it, sounds like you're there. You can look up youtube videos about it. Sounds great. Tested out stuff on it, and you don't want things too buried. Like with the instruments, gotta watch there's not too much of this reverb but gave it some with the vocals and helps smooth the artifacts. Wanted to give it that church cathedral type reverb too so it's quite heavy.

Anyways.. you have the here comes the bride. The section from the opera. And noticed a later part where they use the same melody notes but have extra notes. Usually you wouldn't hear that section because it's later on after other changes. But went and got that and added it on after the usual song finishes.

Next it gets into that wedding exit song. Those notes were saturated. Had to chop things down and you have 2 layers of stand up jazz bass on top of the slap bass. So it's thicker than the first part. Changed the middle notes to distortion guitar. Kept the church organ, those were all the notes. The top was vocals.

The drums were quite complicated even though it doesn't seem like it. From bits of midi loops that I'd fit in, and each one of those has half a dozen tracks. If you merge them you'd lose some bits of notes so was all separate. Then to convert midi to wav you have to record as it plays so the drums were about 50 tracks one at a time. Then export as wav and adjust volumes. What's interesting about the drums is usually you'd hear, here comes the bride as church organ only. Well there was metronome and that's how I figured out where the drums would go but the kick would land when the click would go so it's a bit odd but that's how the loops would fit. The drum bits were slow blues and you get the ride. The first part was 85bpm 2/4 time signature and the exit song was 100bmp 4/4. The start though once it was all mixed, seemed like some sort of love song, or a ballad that people would slow dance too or something. haha. It's like oh, it's a slow dance type song, didn't notice if you'd just hear the original church organ. Then it speeds up a bit too much later for it to be a slow dance.

Was a bit of a mess the project what happened was, I had cut the original end of the here comes the bride and used the later one with the faster note changes. Was almost done and though.. ya know.. this song it's like a girl's been waiting her whole life for that moment.. I think even though it's a hassle I'll go have that original start then add that extra part after. Had to re-record 50 friggen drum tracks one at a time again, then re-mix them all... to add that what extra 30 seconds. Turned out ok though.

Then you've got this middle part, that's those faster note changes. Was a bit much with the vocals with those fast changes. But before running it thru vocaloid, had those top midi notes as ch53 on the normal soundfont which is voice oohs. Left those in the middle part. So you'll notice when it changes to that but it still sounds a bit like some voice bits but more like keyboards going doouuhh.

What else do we got.. oh the start, those bass notes those are -12 semitones, so an octave lower to give it that more bass sound. Drum changes, quite a few in there, like the ride 'll change from type one to two so it's not the same thing repeating... then high hats. The kit i used was this papelmedia sf2 and the drums sound more real. The side-stick though was a bit harsh and that's from another GM soundfont, the sonivox.

Anyways.. the whole thing turned out allright. It's just when making it you have to make sure levels are good and it's a lot of hearing the song. The riffs are kinda neat though, it's a good tune, and you notice it more like this than just the church organ. Turned out allright considering it was just a stack of notes, it's like what am I gonna do with this.

There's a music video to be made for this yet but don't want to spoil hearing it too much right now so that'll have to wait, oh, a couple seasons. Then I'll throw together something for this. One part I wanna do something with stained glass windows. Who knows what I'll do for this for a video. Maybe run things thru filters, stack them, have them interact so you can't see as much where things are from. For source material I'd look up keywords on youtube and go to the end, then choose stuff with less than a few hundred views. See what I can do. Sometimes zoom in on sections.. oh I don't know.. I'll try and throw something together for this. It's not just a normal typical song though. These are a couple special songs. They really do symbolize the whole marriage thing and can mean quite a bit for a girl.. you know what I mean? So I don't know yet what I'll do for the video but I'll see what I can do. Try and throw something together. Anyways, that's pretty much the full backstory about the project. Usually I don't open my mouth when it comes to my tunes. I just let the music do the talking but it's only going to be officially released monday thru the vevo. Then I'll just mind my own business and you don't see my blabbing like this. But since you're all into the vocaloid and that's part of how this was made, figure I'd preach to the choir here a bit about how I made it. ok so there ya go. And yes, I'll be deleting this later, ya know.. I just don't like when I go to plug something and there's my big mouth rambling on.. so have to delete stuff like this. So this 'll only be up thru the weekend.

ok.. here ya go. Enjoy.. it was a pain in the ass having to re-do it all the day before it was finished, but i manned up and did the right thing.. and yeah when all the final tracks with effects were ready to mix, I was like.. ya know.. this turned out allright. When you look at the mess of notes with bad sounding midi it's like, oh i don't know about this one.. it's such a special song for people.. but did it ya guys.. haha :-D
