On this day in 2004, Cyprus became a full member of the European Union

The earliest known Cypriot Greek inscription dates to c. 1000 BC. It is a historical fact. The Ottoman empire was the invading force and the one who created this problem. That being said, you are correct, humans have the right to exist as equals. To ignore the turkish people living there would be bad faith as someone else mentioned.

A unified, independent and democratic cyprus is the solution. However a unified Cyprus would face challenges such as what it's cultural identity and official language would be. Since it is the Turkish people that are the guests, the most peaceful and fair action would be to have the turkish people assimilate with the native Greeks. Unless both sides agree to identify themselves as cypriots; not as Greek or Turkish.

Do you allow guests to come to your house and do as they want?
