Fallout 3 got flak for not being Fallout, Fallout New Vegas got flak for being a hot mess and not being Fallout 3, Skyrim got flak for being a boring RPG where your choices never really mattered and that no matter how hard you tried you'd never really "change" the world.

So Fallout 4 comes out tones down the scale a bit, adds the fact that you can change the world massively with you building settlements killing of entire factions and still being able to play afterwords, far superior gunplay (even if I don't care for the legendary weapons system), and just gameplay improvements across the board.

But the story was shit and they got rid of what made Fallout, Fallout. Skills, a large story focused on developed characters and factions- I'll stop here because you've heard this all before.

Listen everyone is going to bitch about a game all the time, some of it will be legit complaints, while many other "critiques" are just an opinion on the system. A lot of people really like the legendary system, but I really don't like it. People do enjoy the story for what it is, but I just expected more. But I still love the game, it's a good game, and in some cases a better Fallout game.

You shouldn't let a mass consensus color your opinions unless you're just wanting to hate the game or you're tired of being bullied into hating the game. Which is completely fair. You can still enjoy it, no one is stopping you from- okay that's a lie it appears the negative circlejerk around Fallout 4 is killing it for you, but I digress.

Just play the game, don't state your opinions on it and let the people who are bitching now come back in a couple of months when overhaul mods come out.

TL;DR: Just enjoy the game, Fallout 4 will have something that'll keep even the most cynical bastards playing. Or you know their opinions are bullshit because they want to feel high and mighty, and important. They're kinda like Yelpers, they think they're opinion is the one that started it all and they want to be taken seriously as a "reviewer".
