You are conflating air pollution and greenhouse gasses. Smog does not equal carbon dioxide.

This tower is a giant air filter that is removing solid particulate pollution (smog) from the air. It’s not a “carbon scrubber”. Carbon dioxide is an invisible, molecular gas that can’t be filtered because it is too small. The scientific feat of this project is that it uses passive solar heating (hot air rises) to move extraordinary volumes of air through its filters, eliminating the need for huge and power hungry fans. There is no claim of greenhouse gas reduction or sequestration, which is still an expensive and energy intensive process.
