Paddling my brand new Northstar B17 - Shakedown Run

From your words above you state the B 17 as being a ‘more challenging’ hull. However watching your video and reading above (and also following your plight on BWCA), from my perspective, your experience seems to be the thing that is most challenged.

It comes across almost like a new driver with a learner’s permit complaining about how hard it is to drive a brand new Ferrari and how challenging it is to control. Your dump in that windy lake that you described is not unlike the vids you see here on Reddit of those brand new super cars being crashed their first time out.

Someone above posts in regards to your paddle holding in the vid. Like you, myself and many of us here have much to learn, and are by no means experts.

I am thankful and feel fortunate to paddle some of new hulls Northstar is making. I believe they are making me a better paddler and wish when I first started researching these hulls I’d found more knowledgeable first hand reviews and vids to learn more about folks’ perspectives. Thankfully Bear has put up a lot of fantastic Discourse vids online.

However, some of your descriptions and reviews are pretty thin on substance and experience and come across as trash talking on one of the finest canoe builders out there. Again, due to your own challenges.

You obviously are trying to brand yourself on all the socials as being Technically Rugged, which feels like it is missing the /s. Reading between the lines I can hear the audible eye-rolling going on by friends with decades more experience than myself.

Log off the socials, turn off the cameras, dig in a bit and have some fun. Get better with experience. The experience is out THERE, not here online looking for karma, $, or whatever instant gratification. Live in the moment and put in the time and effort before trying to come off as an expert folks can learn from. If it's not fun, why do it?
