People complaining about paladins don’t understand their oaths?

Someone please explain how taking out a guy who tortures for fun and is currently torturing a guy an unjust act. Guess you should knock him out and let him go. I'm sure he'll learn his lesson.

Please explain how ambushing those who have been ambushing people and are obviously going to ambush you an unjust act. I feel like the gods of righteousness would forgive their follower for not allowing themselves to be ambushed by murderers for the sake of "honor."

If you wanna debate morality or talk about dnd rules then more power to you, but cut the stupid strawmen. Everyone here likes Baldur's Gate and Larian as far as I can tell. You don't have to bend over so far defending them. Criticism of how this system has been implemented isn't hate of the game or the people who make it.

I say this because I can't see another reason someone would be so dishonest over something so trivial.
