Plastic and Ethanol

My workflow is like this:

  1. Primary extraction (hydrocarbon, ethanol, sc CO2)
  2. Decarboxylate, winterize in ethanol, remove ethanol
  3. Distill off 'heads' (terpenes, volatiles)
  4. Distill off 'tails' (sugars, chlorophylls)
  5. Very gentle distillation for color correction

The closest oil still system to what people here run is called "short path distillation" and looks like this. Boiling flask on the left, up through a head and through a condenser, with condensed product falling into the flasks in the middle. Over on the right is a cold trap to protect your vacuum pump.

These distillations are performed at very deep vacuum levels, because these compounds are sensitive and have high boiling points. Deep vacuum levels lower the boiling point to something more workable without destroying the compounds in the process.

Hope that helps! More information can be found at future4200.com or sometimes at r/cannabisextracts.
