Playing devil's advocate, some thoughts on the sub's current complaints about YG as a company and how they manage their artists w/ comebacks/schedules

I'm totally fine with some YG artists coming back once every 2 years if they want. It makes a thousand times percent for an act like Psy, who does composition, production, choreo, everything, a guy who's worth a lot now.

But for IDOL groups, philosophically, why bother having an idol group if not for cross-promotional purposes? Are we not doing this whole damn thing to create a product for the masses? If want high quality music and creativity, why the hell are we getting visuals and training these guys to death in dancing and singing and forcing hep-hop and Teddy beats down their throat? I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's that the product created doesn't justify the blue balls, and that a large part of stuff is a result of the YG feedback loop anyways.

Because they don't cross-promote, certain members get screwed. You're lucky as hell if you're Bobby or Mino. But take Seunghoon for example. Is he probably rich now, sure. But WTF at the current state of his career and popularity. The group WAS his freaking career. He's not making tonnes of appearances and most importantly his name is not out there. He was screwed when he never came back for 2 years, he was screwed when EXIT got cancelled, he's screwed now that Winner is in purgatory. I have no idea what career he's going to have going forward but it's less than it would have been if they had simply appeared more and hell, we'd like that too.
