[Post Game Thread] Cleveland Cavaliers @ Atlanta Hawks (3/6/15)

Insane game. I knew we were going to lose this one, but was hard to watch some shit we could have done differently that could have actually pulled a win off.

  • I will not put any of this on Blatt. When J.R. started acting a fool, shooting cold and missing his shots he got yanked. If Bron and Kyrie don't want to buy into the plays being called, you see them frozen in the paint with three Hawks swarming around them. Watching the Hawks fluid ball movement and extra pass every play which was resulting in buckets is proof.

  • We came back and somehow took the lead, but there was no way it could be sustained with a bamboozled ISO offense and a tired defense. If we were somehow able to keep the defense up maybe we could have had a few more looks, but it doesn't really matter when they don't go down. No longevity in the clutch department tonight. A relatively quiet until clutch-time Korver though.....

  • It would be nice to see Perk go in early third quarter, maybe even some second quarter minutes and have him crack some skulls when opponents are playing crazy D. He's there for presence, maybe it's time to use him?

  • Our bench needs to start landing more shots. Shumpert is trying to figure out where he belongs on the team, but his 3 ball isn't consistent enough for him to be out there attempting as much as he is. Especially if Kyrie and/or Bron are on the bench, Shump should be driving more. He's both creative and good in the paint and I'd like to see more of that from him. Would be nice to see Delly and Smith hit more of their shots but I honestly can't really complain too much there.

Hope this game serves as a humbling experience. The Hawks showed that team basketball is a tried and tested approach and they totally flattened us by playing as a unit. It would be a really intense 7 game series, but I do believe we can take them if we can stop the hero ball shit and stay focused on D.
