The Problem with Occupying Problematic Spaces - an essay I wrote in light of recent events involving RSE.

Thanks for writing and sharing this. A lot to think about and meditate on. Agree with everything about Prof and Dem. Was never a Prof fan, or even much of a Dem fan, but based on what's come out about them, I agree with the labels decision. It breaks my heart a bit that so many people are turning on Atmosphere, as I don't think we know the full story of what all went on between Dem and Slug. Maybe Slug WAS trying to help behind the scenes, or maybe he was being given different details from different sources and was just doing his best to navigate the situation? I have no idea. Or, maybe he tried to help his friend, despite knowing his friend had done some fucked up shit. I honestly don't know at the end of the day though, because so many details and sides of the story have been left out of the narrative (Slug's side of the narrative anyway).

Is it wrong that I both want these women to be vindicated and believed, while also wanting to see these artists self reflect, evolve and learn from this? Especially in Slug's case, I really hope and believe he can be honest with himself about this situation, learn from it and come out better on the other side. I think he has shown considerable growth throughout his career, and I hope he can apply that same kind of self reflection now. Only time will tell I guess.
