Can someone help me understand how a lesbian can identify as a male? And why are they being supported in nonbinary subreddits?

A lot of this stuff comes from Leslie Feinberg. She really pioneered the whole "transmasculine woman" stuff a lot of these people do. She also happened to have a remarkably racist and bad read of history many of you are probably familiar with, as it articulates itself on Twitter to this day. That transphobic feminists happen to love her despite being trans, including many who openly identify as "transmasculine women" or the slightly more convoluted stuff you see here seems to be a fact wholly lost on he herd. I'm not saying she was a villain, in fact I think she was a fairly sympathetic person. But her ideology is a mismanaged pile of motivated reasoning, cherry picking, and historical truth bending.

Note: I'm not trying to misgender her, afaik she preferred she/her pronouns by the end, at least according to Wikipedia?
