Questions about Yusuf al-Qaradawi

What is this sub's general consensus on him?

No consensus. This sub has people from all over the world, it isn't monolithic.

How big of a deal is he? I mean, how much influence does he have?

He is the most famous and influential scholar living today. He is an original thinker and my bet is that he will end up being recognized not just as the scholar of this age but of the ages. Honestly, what's even more impressive about him is his manners.

Is he a trustworthy source?

You should read him for yourself and make up your own mind. Much better than going off what other people (like me) say.

Here's a sample of his writing. It's a eulogy he wrote on the death of another scholar that he did not particularly like. Captures a good mix of his manners & knowledge.
