How often are you on reddit in an average week? Every day usually for about three hours (let me die of shame now) but I also check Reddit and the subscribed subs when I'm bored throughout the day for a few minutes.

How often do you visit /r/europe? Probably every day or so but I post A LOT less than that, and tend to avoid the immigration type stuff.

What country are you normally resident in? UK.

Do you speak any languages besides English? (If yes: which and to what level?) Russian- high level. Yiddish- fairly high level. French- this was my school subject language, and I did it up to A-Level so when I was 18 and was pretty good I'd say. I've kept up my reading which is okay but I bet my writing skills are passable at best.

What interests you about Europe? The completely amazing diversity in cultures. The crossing of cultures, with influences from the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, the way Slavic and Germanic, Celtic, Nordic, etc etc cultures interact. Europe has been the site of some of the bloodiest conflicts, most amazing scientific discoveries, most famous works of literature and art etc. European cultures have changed and influenced the world through colonialism especially. It's just awesome. The history out there is amazing. I'm most interested in attitudes to gender and sexuality in the (especially Early) Medieval West along with Jewish shtetl cultural history and also Medieval and Early Modern Western and Central European judicial systems and it's what I focus most on in eg /r/askhistorians or in studying. It's amazing how much there is to study and I can only ever see a tiny bit of European history, but unlike many societies, there is a wealth of information and primary sources etc etc out there. Europe had the ancient Greeks with their democracy, it had the Vikings, the anarchist movements, Communist movements, the French revolutionaries, the founders of Protestantism, the early explorers of the Americas and Australia, it's had world famous playwrights like Shakespeare and famous artists like Picasso, heroes like Schindler or the various resistances, it's had horrible things like establishing the Atlantic slave trade and amazing things, like the freedom of movement, the World Wide Web and amazing scientific achievements. There's food from mici to kalduny to haggis to francesinhas and kugelhopf, and there's everything from tiny thatched cottages in England to the Eiffel Tower to the Lascaux caves to Mir castle in Belarus or Gamla Stan in Stockholm, there's Česky Krumlov in the Czech Republic and the Coliseum in Rome. You get geysers, volcanoes and glaciers in Iceland compared to the Balearic Islands idyllic climate, and then compare the Alps to the plains in Hungary or the karst landscape in Slovenia. The extremes aren't unique or even that extreme compared to many places, but I still think it's awesome.

What are your favourite and least favourite things about /r/europe? My favourite thing is meeting and talking to people from around Europe. I've never 'met' someone from, eg, Albania before. Literally just before this, I was learning that apparently Jönköping is the Swedish Bible Belt, that the Catalonians are considered to have stupid dances and that people from south Madrid are very liberal. It's weird and cool. Least favourite thing is the heavy anti immigration, some subtle racism and some of the outright hatred against the Roma. Also, I'd like more discussion threads.

Do you have experience as a moderator or similar? On Reddit? No. Outside of Reddit, I was a moderator on a small forum for people with sleep disorders.

Why do you want to be a moderator? Eh...why not? Also, I'd like to help make the sub a friendlier place. I mean, if I was Roma, I wouldn't find this subreddit welcoming at all. It's kind of sad that eg if I recommend Reddit to a Roma friend, they'd probably be hit with a barrel of hate. So I'd like to help clean that up a bit, I suppose.

why do you think you would be a good moderator? I'm on Reddit a lot...so yeah. I'm pretty conscientious, I like this subreddit so I'd want the best for it too?

do you have any expirence with statistics, datamining or reddit bots? Small statistics experience, so kind of. No to the last two. I'm a fairly quick learner though.

What is your opinion on the immigration megathread? What do you think went wrong (if anything)? Frankly, I avoided it after the first time I went on it. I think that was possibly one of the problems, interesting topics which could come up would be essentially hidden inside it. Someone who could have contributed to it might have been put off before and therefore never seen it.

What's one weakness you have? Prawn cocktail crisps.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or one hundred duck sized horses? One horse sized duck. Duck tastes amazing and all I need is a shotgun. Plus, I grew up with ducks and although there were one or two nice ones, most were nasty fuckers so this would be my chance for revenge.

What single word connects all of these three of the following words: Europe, Pussy Cat, Teacher? Explain why.

Does pussy cat count as one word? Pretty sure it's two, that makes it a phrase. Or maybe it's hypenhated. Anyway, many, er, pussy cats live in Europe and many teachers live in Europe, and Europe is Europe, so Europe. Unless you're wanting an answer to do with porn. I can't provide that.
