AE2/RS do what you need. You can pipe items in via any other logistics mod using the importer, pipe items out into another logistics mod using the exporter, interface with any other storage solution using a storage interface, interact generally with generic interfaces, or even with crafter and furnaces using the crafting interfaces. You just need to learn the mods.

RS is ultra streamlined and is what you want if you just want a solution that works. AE2 is more... elaborate? More narrative? It goes way heavy on world gen and progression gates and such. RS is just pure functionality with no inconvenience.

As an example, a very popular early game storage solution with RS/AE2 is to connect storage drawers with a storage interface. No disk drives needed!
