Quickly returning to the hotel, Stifler hears someone in the supply closet and steps inside, but due to the closet s poor lighting, it is only when he gets inadvertently walked in on that Stifler realizes he s actually having sex with Jim s grandmother (who becomes pleasant, especially towards Stifler after the act), who was placed in the closet by John and Justin to stop her constant complaining. Despite the chaotic events leading up to it, Michelle and Jim eventually get married. At the reception, the newly married couple dances while Stifler dances with Cadence. It is also the first of the American Pie films not to feature a blink-182 song. Critics Consensus: Raunchier and even more gross than the first two American Pies, American Wedding ought to please fans of the series. The gang tries to keep the wedding a secret from Stifler, fearing he might ruin everything but after he finds out about it, he instantly comes up with an idea to throw Jim a huge bachelor party, upsetting Jim. The movie opens with dad rushing a forgotten engagement ring to a restaurant, where he fails to realize that Michelle is under the table. He is joined this time by Michelle s dad, Harold, played by Fred Willard, who you will recall as the idiotic dog show announcer in Best in Show. The plot, if there is one, involves Jim s determination to learn to dance before his wedding, Stifler s hopeless infatuation with Michelle s virtuous sister Cadence (January Jones), the efforts of Jim and his wedding party to keep the troublemaker Stifler from the wedding, and a couple of walks on the wild side--one when Stifler ends up in a dance contest in a gay bar, and another when a bachelor party is interrupted by Michelle s parents. Jim s dad (the irreplaceable Eugene Levy) deserves a medal for understanding his son as only a father can. The film s soundtrack includes songs by Van Morrison, Blue October, The Working Title, Foo Fighters, Feeder, Avril Lavigne, American Hi-Fi, Sum 41, the All-American Rejects, Joseph Arthur, New Found Glory, and Hot Action Cop. Proud possessor of a gigantic ego, able to conceive and stage-manage appalling scenarios, incapable of understanding why he is not universally loved, Stifler is, we all secretly know, the character in this movie we like the best.
