Roll feed in a laser printer

I’ve only ever seen roll to roll as label printers. I don’t know that there’s anything that would theoretically prevent you from doing what you’re talking about with one; it would depend first on the software included / available, and second on the media available / needed. The only version remotely resembling the use case you’re describing I’m aware of are large bespoke industrial machines. I’m not aware of anything resembling the inscrutable and mysterious machine you posted above; it looks extremely dated, though, and I dont think it would easily do what you have in mind with the primitive software/ui that would be associated with something from that era, unless you’re an exceptionally skilled software designer or something. I think there’s a reason you’re not finding any product. It isn’t a liminal space video, and it’s this: this is an uncommon and generally impractical use case, at least, in terms of a product on the market that suits enough users to be worth producing.

The product you posted above was probably somebody’s attempt at subverting cutsheet production at a time that the market was in flux, and emerging technologies were trying to find their niche.

I’d say the likelyhood of finding something you can retrofit to a printer is pretty slim. I’d be happy enough to know that I’m in correct, that would be an interesting machine, but I’ve never seen anything like it outside of label printers
