rotman

Hi! I was in the exact same position as you 2 years ago so, I’ll give you my advice. My situation was a bit different because I was 100% sure I wanted to do law so take everything with a grain of salt lol.

If you are interested in business but still want the possibility of going to law school, I suggest going to Schulich instead. Rotman is unnecessarily hard and will tank your cumulative GPA. You can do more research on it but I don’t think there is any huge difference between the opportunities Rotman will provide vs Schulich or other business programs.

However, if you do the management specialist in Rotman it is feasible to get an A- or more in third/fourth year but that doesn’t erase the first two years. Fortunately there are law schools like that will look at your best 2 years or last 2 years as opposed to your cumulative gpa such as Queens and Western. That is my plan currently.

However, UBC, UofT and Osgoode look more at cGPA so if that’s where you want would want to go for law school, maybe Rotman isn’t the best option.

All in all, my advice is to do more research so nothing is a surprise to you. Research the course requirements for each program you are interested (make sure to look beyond first year too!). Some business programs are more flexible than others! Research the gpa requirements at the law schools your interested in. And most importantly, think about what interests you and what your end goal is- that should be the basis of your decision.
