Why do the Scottish want independence and what would happen if they became independent?

I’m afraid your title is implying that all Scottish people want independence from the UK and this is simply not true. A referendum was held in 2014 and those seeking independence lost, but they continue on insisting on just declaring independence or holding another referendum until they get the result they want. When it comes to the EU, some believe Scotland would just be admitted as though it was simply continuing UK membership but the reality is probably that full application would have to be done. That means meeting certain financial requirements which may be painful for the public would need to be implemented but it’s certainly possible. As I haven’t said anything positive about independence I can guarantee that once any of the Scottish Nationalists see this the down votes will be on such an epic scale this answer will be hidden very quickly.
